Pitches and ideas for blog posts to Ipsa Loquitur should be submitted to the Online Managing Editor at GLJonline@gmail.com. Posts can range from 250 to 2,000 words and use hyperlinks in place of footnotes.
Responses
Online responses to Articles should be submitted to the Online Managing Editor at GLJonline@gmail.com. Responses should use hyperlinks in place of footnotes where possible and not exceed 2,000 words within the main text, nor should they exceed 1,000 words within the footnotes.
Debates
Interested debaters should submit a list of debate participants and a topic to the Online Managing Editor at GLJonline@gmail.com. Debates are comprised of an opening statement, a rebuttal, and closing statements by each side. The length of each submission is expected to be one to two times the length of an average opinion/editorial newspaper article (i.e., 1,000 to 2,000 words). Debates should use hyperlinks in place of footnotes.
Student Work
All current Georgetown Law students and recent graduates until the September following graduation may submit for Online publication case comments, other short articles, or blog posts. Submissions should be fewer than 4000 words in main-text length with fewer than 1250 words in footnotes. Submissions will be reviewed via a selection process that includes evaluation of the timeliness of the issue discussed, the novelty of the author’s argument and analysis, the appeal of the topic to a generalist legal audience, the quality of the writing, and, for all submissions except blog posts, the paper’s compliance with current Bluebook standards. Interested students should submit a copy of their comment, short article, or blog post with personal identifying information removed to Ryan Stephenson, Senior Online Editor, gljonline@gmail.com
